Mercy has a bachelor of Laws degree from Moi University, a post graduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and a Masters of Arts degree in International Relations and & Diplomacy from Kenyatta University.
Mercy is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 15 years’ experience, a commissioner of oaths and a Notary Public. She has specialized in human rights law, employment and labour relations, civil and criminal litigation, commercial and corporate law, conveyancing/property law, intellectual property law, family law, probate and administratiion (succession), immigration, legislative drafting and legal audits amongst others, serving diverse clientelle from diverse sectors. Mercy’s other experience includes training on laws of Kenya, facilitating workshops, pushing the gender and social justice agenda, civic education, coprate strategy, education sector reforms, child protection and safeguarding, lobbying and advocacy.
Mercy is a member of Law Society of Kenya and its gender committee, the East Africa Law Society, The International Commission of Jurists, Kenya Chapter (ICJ -K) and the Federation of Women Lawyers, Kenya (FIDAK). She also serves in the boards of management of Miiri Secondary School and Karatina Girls Secondary School. Mercy is a founder, trustee and the chairperson of the Centre for Children’s Rights and Development (CCRD) Trust. She also serves in the Nairobi County Child Protection Team (NCPT).
